About Us

The Vintage Speedcar Association of Queensland was formed in 1983 by a group of ex drivers, pit crew and fans of these mighty little cars we affectionately call ' midgets'. The aim of the association is to preserve the fabulous history of the cars and drivers that provided so much entertainment for Queenslanders from the 1930s.

Recent V.S.A.Q CLUB EVENTS GALLERY

VSAQ members had their scheduled run at the Boonah Showgrounds on 29/11/2011 . The day; which was warm, and got very hot as the afternoon greeted us, started early, for many of the members, as they headed to Boonah.

Boonah is a pleasant little country town; which is surrounded by Mount French, and the Mc Pherson Range in the Fassifern valley, South West, and just over an hours drive from Brisbane.

By the time we arrived; the action was really buzzing, as the drivers made the best of a well watered track, getting as many early runs possible and making for an outstanding day.

The hive of activity was evident from the smell of methanol, and the roar of the engines, not to mention the smiles on the drivers faces. We were provided with great entertainment for the day;  by Barry Wixted, Jeff and Gary Lucas, Kel Young, Phil Crompton, Bob Baker, Al Simms, Brian Spann, Chris and Alex Purdon, Kenny Stanaway, Paul wheeler, and John Cleary who showed us how he could handle his Solo bike.

The day proved how these guy's can handle any situation, when mechanical knowledge is called for. Bob Baker's car had a valve on his radiator needing repairs. The manifold in Paul Wheeler's new Leo Vercoe Chevy 11, needed a fine adjustment. Phil Cromption midget had a flat tyre. And Al Simms had a slight petrol leak; nothing, any of these guy's couldn't handle at all.

Norma Rogers had the B.B.Q  fired up, with Bob's help. This lady is like the Energiser Bunny, bringing food, and cooking up a storm, to feed not only the drivers but, the visitors as well!.

Graham Gibb, was there with his Esky loaded with ice cold drinks, to quench the thirst of the needy...Many thanks Graham.

At this point, would like it to been known the we have a new push car assistant in the name of Jack, we'll all see a lot more of this boy, and Jack loves the job taking the whole thing very seriously indeed... Great job Jack! And we thank you, as well as Allan Fenn for his assistance with pushing.

The VSAQ was kindly presented with a fantastic framed print titled "When Gilmore Roared" brought all the way from the U.S, and presented by Kel and Lyn Young for which we thank them. The print will be auctioned at the Christmas lunch next Sunday 27th. There are only just a few seats left for this great function. If you'd like to join us for the fun day, and be in the auction. Ring and secure a seat now.
